The economic argument for the individual mandate

Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear the legal arguments for and against the constitutionality of the individual mandate. Embedded in them will be economic arguments. In a post at the JAMA Forum, I make the economic case for the mandate, supporting it with results from recent studies.

I was not able to include some charts that illustrate the results I describe. However, they’re all posted here at TIE. They’re worth looking at. So, here’s what I suggest: open the following three posts in browser tabs. Then, when you come upon mention of the corresponding authors in the JAMA piece, take a look at the associated charts. These posts also provide some additional background for those who want a deeper treatment:

Enjoy the JAMA Forum post, and please share it every way you can.
