  • Google Reader subtlety

One of my favorite things about Google Reader was the Chrome plug-in (Super Full Feeds for Google Reader) that let me click “readable” to see the full posts of entries that only put a preview in the RSS feed. Yes, I know this short circuited the intent of the authors who wanted me to go to their sites, but I don’t care. I love reading posts in my reader.

Do any of the alternatives to Google Reader have that functionality?

http://www.feedly.com/home#my is what I have used as an iOS app for some time. I started using the website yesterday and it seems like a decent substitute and has the features you are referring to.

I’m also favoring feedly at the moment. It appears to be able to show the full story inline.

Feedly has one unfair advantage at the moment – many alternatives are getting hammered so they’re very slow. feedly currently uses google as a back-end, so it’s operating at full speed.

After more testing, it doesn’t always show the full post inline.

I think the preview link serves the function!

We should all move to Twitter.
I don’t know how well this would work but I’ll give it a try.

Not yest. I’ve been trying out Feedly but don’t see a way to import my Reader feeds which I really need to do.

This is going to be quite the pain. That’s for sure.

I don’t really understand why they are killing Reader off.

This usually works to get full text of RSS feeds, but it does not have the “click to display whole article” functionality you describe:

I’ve had mixed results with that and long delays. Still, it can work.

The Old Reader works fine, once you get through the import queue
