    • The xkcd dude (Randall Munroe) has lots of cool thoughts. I think it’s fair to call him a genius of a sort.

      One note: don’t some insurers actually cover homeopathy as a way to hold down total claims – allowing their customers to substitute cheap remedies of dubious value while avoiding (or at least delaying) more expensive, if more widely accepted as effective, ones? Not necessarily the same as holding down total health care costs, and not actually evidence that homeopathy works. Maybe with some assumptions about rationality someone could spin it into an argument for a net benefit to waiting longer before seeking medical treatment for some “homeopathically treatable” ailments.
