The AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting is June 12-14, 2011 in Seattle. There are a series of interest group meetings, some of which are already underway. Steve Pizer and I will be in Seattle, and if you want to chat about The Incidental Economist, blogging, how blogging relates to research or even if you have a bone to pick with us about something we have written, look for us (I will blame Austin and Aaron since they won’t be there).
Steve will be presenting at the following times:
- “The Effect of Health Reform on Public and Private Insurance in the Long Run” (with Austin Frakt and Lisa Iezzoni) at Poster Session B, 9:45AM, Monday
- “Introduction to Selection Bias in Observational Studies” and “Use and Construction of Instrumental Variables” as part of the methods workshop “Addressing Selection Bias in Observational Studies” at 11:30AM on Tuesday
I am not presenting at the meeting, but will be scouting for important research for us to blog about. If you see something we should know about, let us know. We especially want to encourage students, post-docs and trainees to send us your stuff. We want to know what the new crop of the best and the brightest are doing.
Finally, I want to put a plug in for the Long Term Care Colloquium that I helped put together this year. It will be held immediately following the end of the Annual Meeting on Tuesday afternoon, from 2-5pm. The focus for this year is “Rebalancing LTC toward community settings and implications of the ACA for this goal.” You can still register, and if you are taking a red eye back to the East Coast Tuesday night, this is great way to spend the afternoon (we could even share a taxi to the airport).
