• Progress? Who knows?

Some of you have noticed that I haven’t posted in a few days.  Mostly that’s because not much is going on from a policy standpoint.  Yes, there’s plenty of political theater, but that’s you can go lots of places to get that coverage.

Here are a few things worth reading, however:

Ezra points out how many Republican ideas are already in the Democrats’ bill.  I’d add that as a supporter of much more robust reform, I’m personally insulted by the idea that this isn’t a compromise bill.  Try negotiating with me, and you’ll see what radical reform truly looks like.

The President wants to hold a healthcare summit.  Personally, I think this is a good idea.  It will bring things into the public light, force the press to cover a discussion of policy points, and perhaps provide cover to weak-in-the-knees lawmakers.  We’ll see.

And, while I’ll be the first to admit that the true clinical benefits are unproven, and research at all that shows that beer is good for you deserves praise.

I’ll post more when there is more to say.
