    • What makes this kind of thing work is careful government oversight — someone who sets good standards, makes sure they are met and cancels contracts when they aren’t. When you have that, you have private enterprise competing to provide great care at the best price.

      If you let the providers spend more money lobbying politicians, bankrolling their campaigns and giving them talking points, you get lousy, expensive care.
