International readmission rates

According to work by Robb Kociol and colleagues (JAMA, 2012), for STEMI patients, the U.S. adjusted 30-day readmission rate is among the highest in the world.

Interestingly, controlling for length of stay of the index admission, the U.S. indicator was no longer a significant predictor of readmission. The U.S. had the lowest median length of stay among the countries examined. Could it be too low?
