    • This billboard is part of a broad campaign to increase colon cancer screening rates in MN, which have been relatively flat for several years. There is a good interview on Minnesota Public Radio with the MDH lead discussing the ad choices:


      Gary Schwitzer’s group at Health News Review do excellent work (the link you got the billboard pict from), but their take on this is too literal. The point is to increase screening rates, but if you put “Get a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy” on a billboard no one in the general public would have any idea what that was in reference to, whereas most people have heard of colonoscopy. The billboards definitely increased discussion of colon cancer.
