RFK Jr. and Trump are Torpedoing Alzheimer’s Research

With the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Alzheimer’s and dementia research is at risk.
RFK Jr. and the Trump administration have made clear that National Institutes of Health research investigating Alzheimer’s is on the chopping block. They’ve done so by eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion from clinical trials, slashing funding for rigorous projects, and firing researchers working to find a cure.
I wrote about this in The Boston Globe:
“DEI in research means that all populations, regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender, are included in rigorous science to find the best treatments and cures possible.
Two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women. Older Black and Hispanic Americans are at greater risk of developing the disease than their white counterparts. We cannot investigate Alzheimer’s disease without considering DEI.”
