The doctoral program in Health Services Research at Boston University School of Public Health engages the individual in a comprehensive, hands-on experience of health services research, in which students are encouraged to link course-based projects with their own emerging research interests. Students are encouraged to begin independent research projects early in their studies that may provide the basis for their subsequent dissertation work.
Students will complete a minimum of 42 credits of coursework to apply towards this degree. The course sequence is designed to provide students with a strong understanding of research skills for use in several health services research industries, including academia, industry, or government.
Doctoral students may secure funding from one of several training grants, including T32s from NIDA and AHRQ. Students are mentored by faculty in the Health Law, Policy and Management department at the School of Public Health.
