- It’s useless to debate research design and econometrics with someone who mistakenly believes you’re debating policy. (Corollary: It’s astonishing the extent to which someone will misrepresent research when his interest is debating policy.)
- When you’re sick, with a fever of, say, 102 degrees F, the ability to tell your kids to go watch TV is dramatically welfare improving. (Corollary: Ironically, my talk tonight on health care has been canceled due to illness.)
