@Laura - I never used half.com. I did sell a few textbooks through other used book merchants. Bigword.com helped me figure out where I'd get the best price. Amazon was the best in most cases, but not the fastest. I sold some elsewhere in bulk for the speed and convenience, but only when the prices were reasonable. I'm sure outlets have advantages but I don't have a lot of experience outside Amazon.com.

I've been using half.com to sell books, dvds, and video games for a couple months now, and I love how easy it is; have you ever used half? Do you think there's anything specific to amazon that makes it a better place to sell?

Thanks!

Congrats. From my experience trying to sell more common books, they can sit there a loooooong time and I'm lucky to get $4. Its easy to get hosed on the shipping costs as well if you're not careful.

Supposedly you can save a little on the shipping of books, cd's, and videos by writing 'media mail' on the packaging and mentioning it to the clerk at the post office.

The best part about using Amazon compared to EBAY is that you don't have to upload any pictures or descriptions. You enter the Title or UPC code (assuming its not a super old or rare product) and they already have all the info. Setting up auctions on Ebay can be so tedious.....

@Wai Yip Tung - Yeah, go for it. If they're not high-priced text books printed within the last 15 years or so then you may not get much for them. There are folks selling other sorts of books (e.g. novels) for pennies. (They make some profit on shipping charges, but not much.) You can't beat them and make decent money.

But, relatively recent text books that you paid $50-$100 for, you can likely get good money for those. Give it a try.

Thank you so much for sharing the experience. Now it really motivates me to clean out my unloved books.
